If You’re Trying to Avoid High Blood Pressure, Don’t Eat these 6 Foods

Suffering from hypertension isn’t exactly uncommon nowadays, especially if we consider how easy one can find salty and junk food that works towards raising our blood pressure to unhealthy levels. Furthermore, there’s no rule as to who is susceptible to high blood pressure since everyone from teenagers to senior singles can become affected. In that name, here are the top 6 foods you shouldn’t be eating if you want to avoid hypertension.

1.     Canned Soup

Whether you’re in a hurry or you simply like the taste, canned soup can sometimes seem like the friendliest of all the canned foods. But what if we told you this isn’t exactly true?

Namely, just one can of this soup make you surpass the recommended daily salt intake by a whopping 700 milligrams. In other words, canned soup is your worst enemy.

2.     Chinese Food

Don’t get us wrong; we have nothing against Chinese food in general, and we think it boasts some of the tastiest dishes in the world. However, when it comes to blood pressure control, it won’t be your ally.

A serving of beef and broccoli a-la-Chinese doesn’t sound all that bad, but when you consider that the soy sauce in a single meal contains around 3.2 grams of salt, you’ll think twice before opting for a Chinese take-out.

3.     Whole Milk

Now, here’s an entry that even we are surprised to see. And even though there’s no denying that whole milk is a food that’s good for some things, it’s still bad for your blood pressure.

For instance, whole milk is as an excellent source of calcium but contains much more fat than you need. One cup of the stuff brings 8 grams of fat to the table, with 5 grams of it being saturated. An excellent choice for jamming your arteries and raising your blood pressure indeed!

4.     Deli Meat

The process that transforms raw meat into deli meat is what we’re worried about here. Most deli and lunch meats – with bacon as their ruler – go through curing, seasoning, and salt-bathing preservation process. And as we said before, salt is a big ‘no-no’ when it comes to high blood pressure.

5.     Ramen Noodles

We swear we didn’t put Chinese cuisine two times on this list on purpose! Unfortunately, one of the most popular Chinese foods is also one of the worst enemies of normal blood pressure.

A single package of ordinary ramen noodles consists of 1580 milligrams of salt, as well as 14 grams of fat, among other things. So if you want to clog your arteries and make your blood pressure levels go sky-high, go knock yourself out with a ramen noodle meal.

6.     Chicken Skin

We know that chicken skin can sometimes be the best piece of a freshly fried chicken, but we also know that this not something people with high blood pressure should eat.

Chicken skin is packed with saturated fats which increase your levels of ‘bad’ cholesterol. This way, your blood pressure also goes up due to cholesterol imbalance, which can ultimately lead to coronary heart disease.
